Life is continually presenting me with more and more challenges causing the external noise of “trying to make it” became deafening and began to cover up the beautiful music inside me. Which , at times, I felt I could handle. I let myself to become a part of the infamous rat race, the put downs of difficult bosses and people.
You know, sometimes, the person that you least expect to help you, will be there just when you need someone.
What was said , I truly agree and accepted. I do have to turn up this inner music. Its somewhat similar to the story of the golden Buddha.
Was reading this book on my way to work yesterday and it caught my attention. Before this , I have not come across this story of the golden Buddha. Back in Thailand , there was once a big clay statue of a smiling Buddha. In the 1950s, the monks staying nearby were told to relocate the statue to give way to a new highway. They arranged for it to be lifted by a crane and as they raise the giant statue , they were taken by surprise by the unexpected weight. They quickly set it down when they begin to feel the statue beginning to crack. They hurriedly cover it with a canvas as it started to pour. That night, the head monk came out to check on the statue. As he shined his flashlight on the crack, something caught his eye. Curious, he went to get a hammer and chisel. Carefully he chipped away a small section around the crack and was taken aback. He called up all the other monks and they began to chip away. And there stood before them, a solid gold Buddha.
So many of us, that includes me, as we grew up, our golden essence get plastered over like the clay covering the Buddha. Overtime, it can become so thick that our inner self become completely hidden and the inner music tuned down.
Now, as being suggested by her, I have to :
1. Be gentle and patient with yourself. Taking one day at a time. Once a while, switch off everything and give yourself a break. Get away from everything and be only with yourself. Then you will start to listen to your inner music and get to know yourself better.
2. Practice emotional self-care. Ask for a hug, if you are fortunate to have a loved one around.
3. Expand your social circle. Create a hang out group where you can discuss anything under the sun. With whom , you can spend time with when you just want to get away from family, work or business.
4. Do what you love to do. Helping people that you love is the best way to show them your love. You have to give before you can receive w/o having high expectancy of any returns.
5. Find that missing piece to strike the balance of my life.
I will try my best then to start hammering and chiseling the clay that has been plastered all over me. Hehe
