Some people hold truth to the myth that there is only ONE love for you out there. This could not be farther from the truth. Humans have the ability to deeply love any person they choose to. True we may have a stronger, intimate connection with some, but it doesn't mean it can only happen once. For whatever reason, this relationship isn't the right one for you. If it were, you'd still be in it. When you're feeling down, remember that. Some people, like me myself, still holds on to our first LOVE, even knowing that there is no possibility that he will come back again, but then the feelings / memories that we had with him always linger in mind. We tend to compare with our next partner, which is bad! Every person is different in their own special ways. Just know that your special someone is out there, and when you're ready you WILL find him. But, you have to start looking ahead of you to find him. He isn't going to be trailing in your shadows.
I also believe that you never really stop loving anyone. You can be continuosly be in and out of love. It may not be the same kind of love, but deep down there is still some sort of affection towards the person. In many situations it may be this belief that causes people to hold on to a past love so strongly. I'm sure you've heard the saying, "If you love someone set them free, if it was meant to be they will come back to you." Unfortunately, in most cases of separation it really wasn't meant to be. If a relationship has ended, chances are there were good reasons for it, either on your side or the other person's.
Like the saying goes, there’s a silver lining in every grey cloud. Treat it as a valueable lesson in life, take it that GOD has especially chosen you to go through this difficult phase in order to test your level of patience and acceptance and how well you can overcome such situations.
In every situation you are in there is a lesson for you to learn, otherwise you wouldn't be in that situation! Figure out what your lesson was with this person, and close the door. It isn't going to help you in the future to be focusing on the past. It is true that most of the time its very tough for us to trust again after a failed relationship and that whatever the new person in your life says / do, you might be blinded of their sincerity and will always think of the negative. The negative vibes will always flow. Let time heals. Your time in the present and the future is where your attention should be placed. Above all, recognize that life doesn't begin anew by looking at the past. You need the future to erase the past. It begins with a sense of adventure and willingness to be in the present looking towards the future.
